Blakawatra
Blakawatra is a recreational resort outside the city of Paramaribo.
By car or bus previously discussed, you will arrive at Blakawatra after two hours.
Blakawatra is a place suitable for different activities.
You can relax in the fast flowing water swimming (see photos) or a walk in the forest. As the night falls the hunters among us can start their search for animals in the wild.
It is a three days stay at Blakawatra.
Blakawatra means black water.
Day 1 Departure from Paramaribo.
We leave Paramaribo in the morning, by bus, time and place will be scheduled by Mi Kondre Tours. We follow the road towards Paranam and at Powaka we make a turn to the left.
With a boat we cross part of the Suriname river, passing Jodensavanna( we will visit this place the next day) to arrive at Blakawatra.
We will search a suitable place to start installing the tent.
If we are finished doing such, we can enjoy a swim in the cool water of the Blakawatra creek.
Or find a nice spot to sunbathe.
After lunch we can take a walk through the forest listening to the nice sounds of the birds, living in the wild.
The fisherman among us can seek their fortune in catching fish mostly the anjoemara.
You can also choose to stay at the camp quality time like reading a book or so.
Before the night falls we wash ourselves in the river.
We will start with dinner.
Making a campfire is forbidden because of the risk of burning the trees.
We drink non-alcoholic beverages.
The drinkers amongst us wanting to drink alcohol will have to order these upfront at the tourmanager before departure from Paramaribo or buy your own and carry them along.
As it is getting late we will sleep in our tent.
Day 2 Jodensavanna
Today we will visit Jodensavanna.
We take our bath in the morning in the river.
After a relaxing breakfast we will start preparing ourselves for the trip to Jodensavanna.
We will start a picknick there for lunch, sightseeing and able to buy some souvenirs.
We will return to Blakawatra doing what we did yesterday.
But as the night falls the hunters among us will seek their fortune in the wild.
Shooting animals like a deer or rabbit.
Day 3
After breakfast we will start drying the tent.
Then we will start packing and cleaning up the place.
The rest of day we will enjoy the last hours of our stay at this beautiful place.
In the late afternoon we will return to Paramaribo.
